PostSubject: 53 ford rebuild project   Thu Jul 16, 2009 8:00 pm

My project car this summer will be my dads 53 Ford customline, last of the flathead 8's. Pics to follow. But for now, sad story. I just wanted to fix the thing before he dies, so I take in to a "friend" to get an estimate. Just a little rust in the rockers, he says 2500 3000 at the most. so i leave it there and about 6 mo. later I give him 1 grand to at least get started. Weeeeeell another couple moths go by and I get a phone call and he says come look. I get there and just about fall to my knees. He has got my car on the rack with the rebuilt engine torn apart!!!! Not only that he tells me that it will be 10 grand to fix it!!. After I somewhat composed myself I picked up all the peices and towed it home. Thats where i'm at now.
Have a nice day.

o man talking bout being screwed. wtf was that guy thinking?? Did you ever tell him to touch the engine ?? imo you gots a case against the guy. if nothing else send the info along to the BBB. I had my monte flood when the shop i took it to left windows down during rain. They got a nastygram from the BBB courtesy of me for sure.

unfortunataly he is already out of business so there is nothing the BBB could do. But here in N. Idaho we handle things our own way. He will get his.

We did have a 64 buick skylark conv. man it was cool. Alum engine. v-8, it would cruise..
Driving home from work one day though the sun was out, i was enjoying...then
BOOM, sounded like a flippen Howetzer went off in the back seat. the top came apart in a million pieces. you take about an eye opener, Man.

i'd like to take a dive into an old classic for sure. That old metal has the curves and lines I love so much. We went to a couple lots the other day, and all I said bout the ones for sale was they all looked like garbage to me. Gimme a stick shift and i'm happy. Razz

any pics of either cars ??
